Gorgeous hotel!!

Liked mostSuch an amazing few days spent at this lovely hotel. We stayed in an upper old colonial style junior suite overlooking the forest which also had exclusive access to a very quiet intimate pool and sunbathing area, which we had to ourselves a lot of the time. The food was excellent and had such a diverse variety of english and asian food available. Also had a great indoor and outdoor gym for those who like to work out !! Most importantly the staff were brilliant and so friendly so a big thank you to everyone there from housekeeping to the front of house staff . We were so sad to leave!!

Could improveRoof top pool was out of order for full stay. Garden pool was very shady and suffered with lots of mosquitos. Larkhill terrace pool very nice but not advertised/ signed so took while to find it! Regret staying in Sentosa. Insufficient staff managing breakfast.

Could improveThe facility was dated, the outside was dirty with paint moldy and peeling. One the main reasons I booked was the rooftop infinity pool and we arrived to find it was closed foe maintenance the entire duration of our stay. This was very disappointing.

Looking for a 2-star experience at a 5-star price? Look no further

Liked mostIf you've ever wondered what $1,000 for two nights buys you in a supposedly five-star hotel, Amara Sanctuary Sentosa has the answer: a tired property, poor service, and food that wouldn't look out of place at a petrol station. The hotel is trading almost entirely on what it could be. The heritage buildings are beautiful, but much of the property feels neglected and overdue for refurbishment. Everywhere you look there are signs of wear and tear. The pool ladder looked like it was hanging on by a thread, and the poolside showers were rusty and dated. It's difficult to reconcile what you're seeing with the five-star rating. The welcome didn't exactly inspire confidence either. The receptionist who checked us in seemed to have completely missed the memo on hospitality. Little communication, no warmth, no enthusiasm—just the bare minimum to get us our room keys. First impressions matter, and this wasn't a good one. Things didn't improve. After housekeeping serviced our room, they forgot to replace our towels. It took a phone call that evening and another the following morning before we finally received them. Again, not what you'd expect from a hotel charging luxury prices. Then there's the Sanctuary Tearoom. I genuinely laughed when our $20 nachos arrived. They were quite literally Doritos tipped straight from a packet, a tiny dollop of guac, some raw onion, and... that's about it. No melted cheese. No jalapeños. No decent salsa. I've genuinely had better nachos from 7-Eleven. The attached photo speaks for itself. What surprised me most after our stay was reading some of the glowing online reviews. They describe an experience that bears almost no resemblance to the one we had. Perhaps we caught the hotel on a particularly bad week, but based on what we experienced, I genuinely struggle to understand how this property continues to attract so many five-star reviews? 🤔 The location on Sentosa is fantastic, but that's about the only five-star aspect of this hotel. Until it receives significant investment in both the property and its service, it feels like a hotel charging luxury prices while delivering something much closer to a two-star experience. Save your money and stay somewhere else.
