Lovely hotel, but the advertised spa was misleading and the service was disappointing

Could improveThe Westin Berlin is a lovely, clean hotel in a great location, and our room and the general facilities were very well maintained. However, we were extremely disappointed by the advertised “spa and wellness centre.” The hotel’s website and promotional images showed a swimming pool, but when we tried to book access, we were told that the pool had been closed since the COVID pandemic. The only facility available was a single sauna heated to 60°C. In my opinion, one sauna does not justify advertising the hotel as having a spa and wellness centre, particularly when photographs of a pool are still being used. The interaction at reception made the situation worse. When we asked about using the wellness facilities, the receptionist responded in a very condescending manner, saying, “Our wellness centre is for guests, and you are not guests at this hotel.” Her expression changed immediately when we explained that we were, in fact, staying at the hotel. Perhaps this assumption was made because we are younger and looked younger than many of the other guests, but regardless of the reason, all customers should be treated equally and respectfully. The hotel itself was lovely, but the misleading advertising and the way we were spoken to left a very negative impression.
