Small, comfortable hotel in the heart of the Old City

Liked mostWe spent 5 enjoyable nights at the Ada Hotel. Located an easy walk from the Blue Mosque, etc., this small hotel has 4 rooms per floor, several of which look out over the Bosporus. Our room had a lovely view, but note that there is a mosque directly across the street. Call to prayer starts early, but that's an issue anywhere in the Old City. We switched rooms to a higher floor after one night. Both rooms have a large soaking tub in the room near the bed. Sort of odd. There is also a shower in the bathroom. Our room was nicely decorated with Turkish carpets and crown molding. The breakfast was okay, nothing special. It would have been nice to have yogurt available. (Note: we have been to Istanbul before, including for a week in 2016. I have also traveled extensively in the country.) The management and staff were very friendly and helpful.

It was OK

Liked most- The hotel is in a great neighbourhood: close to the main sights, sea, and plenty of good and affordable restaurants and shops. - The view from the breakfast room and our bedroom was fantastic - The reception and breakfast staff were friendly and polite - The AC is very quiet, we could keep it on all night without being disturbed by its noise

Could improve- The drain in our bathtub was clogged and I had to ask 3 times before it was cleaned - The interior decor and equipment were worn-out and did not look well maintained - Some towels and blankets had stains on them - Wi-fi was a bit patchy for a couple of days - The breakfast was mediocre with terrible coffee - The soundproofing is very poor, many times I was woken up by neighbours' alarm
